Hello, I'm Janice King, a fiber artist and writer who has long had a deep sense of place in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. My work encompasses art quilting, textile collage and art knitting, combining new with rescued or repurposed materials. Although I have been a lifelong writer, I became an artist in midlife and I feel my creativity is just getting started!
For the artEAST community art center in Issaquah, Washington, I was an exhibit artist, curator, and community programming organizer for multiple shows. I also cofounded the Eastside Art Quilters group, am a long-time nature walk leader, and author of the local walking guidebook, Eastside Seattle Walks.
Explore my art projects, books, and artist resume. On the art projects page you'll also discover artist-in-action and participatory art-making activities that I am happy to present to community groups. Contact me at creabunda @ hotmail.com for more information on any of these activities and projects.
"My art and writing work is focused on encouraging others
to look for and create deeper connection with place.
I hope others learn to enjoy the direct experience a place offers
and the insights it can bring for understanding
the journey and lessons of our lives."
